Midwest Wireline Inc
Jeremy St. Peter - President

Hi, I'm Jeremy St. Peter and I'm an E-logger.

If you don't know what that is or have never heard of the term, don't worry, it's a pretty rare profession. I doubt Google would return much if you just typed that in. Way back in the early 1900's some folks figured out that you could lower an electric probe down a well and record the data acquired from the probe at the surface. Thus the first "electric log" was born. See where I'm going? So that was shortened to "e-log" and therefore those that perform such tasks became known as "e-loggers". A nickname from another nickname. I guess my actual title would be along the lines of "Underground Data Acquisition Specialist" or "Wireline Logging Unit Operator". Both carry pretty decent descriptions of what I do.  Kind of... But just saying "logger" makes people think of trees.

So, how did I get into this field? My Dad, of course! He was an E-logger or around E-logging for much of my childhood and I have many great memories of being on job sites with him and my brothers (One of which is also an E-logger!). So we all knew about the job and the lifestyle that went with it. There was a job opening in 2002 at a local (Southwest Virginia) logging company and I applied and was hired. I spent 2 years there, learning the basics, logging gas wells, before moving on to another company that wanted someone in the Illinois Basin full time; I grew up in Southern Illinois, so it was a perfect fit. I moved to Herrin in 2005 and worked for that company until 2016. While there I learned volumes more and gained experience running a wide range of tools. Along the way, I picked up an RSO certification. I use that every day at Midwest Wireline.

In 2016, I founded Midwest Wireline Inc. I started out with one tool and a video camera system. I've been able to add tools to offer a more varying array of logs to my clients for different applications. In 2018 I was able to add a density tool which offers a hi-res density curve as well as a short guard res, a short or long caliper and a natural gamma. It is a great tool for formation identification in holes of any type.

Midwest Wireline Inc recently surpassed 10 years of being in business. Here's to 10 more and maybe 10 more after that.
